How the math works
Every Amazon FBA sale is the same equation:
- Referral fee — a percentage of the selling price (usually 8–17% by category, $0.30 minimum).
- FBA fulfillment fee — a flat per-unit fee based on the item's size tier and weight.
- Your landed cost — product cost + inbound shipping + prep.
- Net profit = selling price − referral − FBA fee − landed cost.
- Margin = profit ÷ selling price · ROI = profit ÷ landed cost.
For the full breakdown of every Amazon fee, see our Amazon FBA fees & profit guide. And remember: a profitable product only makes money if it also actually sells and your account can list the brand.
